Cosmos Imperial Nebula

- Celadon CL is proud to present our new Cosmos dials, which are hand-painted enamel dials on a sterling silver base with sterling silver paillonné pieces artfully applied by hand onto them, combining two different enamel techniques.

- Every paillonné dial is individually and artisanally created, with no dial bearing exactly the same pattern of paillons, ensuring that each resulting watch is truly unique and irreplicable.

- The dial design shown here is the “Nebula”, which showcases a nebula with a variegation of colours and stars.

Celadon CL

- The Celadon CL or Claire de Lune collection is a new model line for Celadon, showcasing a range of artisanal dials with craftsmanship at the forefront.

- The watches are robust, reliable and water-resistant, excellent for everyday wear while still maintaining the elegance and charisma that lies at the heart of Celadon’s ethos.

- The collection is named “Claire de Lune” (明月 or Ming Yue in Chinese) after the exquisite Chinese monochrome porcelain of dignified and understated blue hues, and also after the ancient Chinese tradition of gazing contemplatively at the moonlit sky full of stars (赏月 or shang yue).

- The name alludes to the peace and tranquility one feels when admiring the moonlit sky, perhaps over the calm waters of the West Lake in Hangzhou framed by classical arch bridges and willow trees.

- Hangzhou, once the capital of the Southern Song dynasty nine centuries ago, was described by Marco Polo as “the finest and most splendid city in all the world”, and its scenic West Lake is perhaps the most archetypal representation of all Classical Chinese scenes.

- Among the Ten Scenes of West Lake as marked by Emperor Qianlong during his Southern inspection tours, it is “Autumn Moon over Calm Lake” (平湖秋月) and “Three Pools Mirroring the Moon” (三潭印月) that most reflect this serene nocturnal contemplation, surrounded by 900 year-old teahouses and candlelit pagodas.

- It is these majestic and ancient vistas that are evoked by the celestial sterling dials or pearlescent guillochage of our Celadon CL Imperials.

- The Celadon CL collection comprises the Pearl Imperial, Silver Snow Imperial and Cosmos Imperial.

The CL Imperial

- The Imperial was our very first design, and our pride and joy when we first launched our brand in August 2012. It remains the cornerstone of Celadon, and the purest expression of what we consider a characteristically Chinese watch - elegant, refined, graceful, yet warm and charming - just like the ancient land of its ancestry.

- The CL version of the Imperial represents the newest and finest expression of our longest-lived watch family, showcasing a range of artisanal dials with craftsmanship at the forefront.

- The Imperial's curvaceous teardrop lugs case echoes the swooping eaves of classical Chinese architecture and furniture.

- The Celadon-Grade ST18 movement, a slender high-grade, reliable and proven automatic movement, is in our opinion the best available movement produced in China outside of high horology. It is finished to the highest possible standards and regulated in-house to within 10 seconds per day.

- The strap shown is a bespoke hand-stitched strap in Epsom. The stock strap included will also be hand-stitched but may differ in colour. If you wish for the same bespoke strap, please let us know after you place your order by contacting our Concierge by email.
